Snow Fall

Today is very cold.

ShigaKogen is the first snow.

Season of Spring!!

It is a dance of the BUD of tree.
Very pretty.
Cherry blossoms are full-bloomed.

It was very beautiful.

Enjoying seeing cherry blossom was done as with my daughter.

It went to the dog-walking with the daughter after it had slipped in skiing yesterday.

The evening sun was very beautiful.

IT IS VERY COLD TODAY.

"KIDOIKE" is covered with the snow.

A new snow got off by 12cm on the HASUIKE.

It is a powder snow.

The snowfalls in the vicinity ShigaKogen Tourism Association are 25 cm.

Two Australians came to the Olympics Memorial to play yesterday.

Another Sunny Day!

It's bright and sunny today in Shiga Kogen!
Temperatures in the morning were about -2℃ in Hasuike.
This is Misumaike (Misuma Pond), known as well as Sankaku Pond, a few hours ago.

Beautiful Sunday!

Sunday ended beautifully! With a blue sky and sunny day...

This is Kumanoyu Ski Area about 4:40 P. M.

Kumanoyu is a Ski only area and has 12 courses from beginners through Advanced skiers and also, has night skiing available.

If you are skiing at Takamagahara area and want to have a pizza, you can have lunch at Takamagahara Hotel.

This Bacon & Potato Pizza will be fine for everyone visiting Shiga Kogen.

Okojo

Okojo or Ermine, is the most famous inhabitant of Shiga Kogen and the animal symbol of our ski resort. That's why you can find lots of souvenirs with this cute animal.

I found this cookies yesterday at Hasuike Hotel.

I wish I could meet an Okojo walking in the snow once in Shiga Kogen.

Still winter in Shiga Kogen

The winter is still with us in Shiga Kogen. During the night, we registered -6℃ and 12 cm of fresh snow in Hasuike.

More snow is expected during the day and it's cloud at the moment.

Shiga Kogen at Sunset

Yesterday the sky was so beautiful that we decided to watch the sunset. Maeyama seems to be a good choice, because the Maeyama C course it's not so difficult to snowshoe hike. The course it's just about 750 m. and we reached the top of the mountain in 15 min. You just need to ask at the front desk where you can hire some snowshoes and go with comfortable shoes and warm clothes.

We start to walk about 5:15 P. M.

And we were on the summit of Maeyama at 5:30 P. M.

Just in time to watch this beautiful sunset.


Sunset watched from 1810 m above sea level.


From the summit, you can see Kasadake, Kumanoyu Ski Area and all the Hotaru Onsen Hotels

At this time of the day, all the lifts had already stopped and it's very peaceful.



If you have the chance, I highly recommend, it's worth!

Cloudy today...

this is the boathouse of Kidoike, this morning. You can notice a fresh thin layer of snow on the trees.

The good thing is that we had some snow in the morning...
and we are expecting for a bright Saturday tomorrow!

SHIGA KOGEN - SNOW VILLAGE - the end

Yesterday was the last night of 2nd Shiga Kogen Snow Village.

Beautiful snow today!

This morning started with a beautiful snow!

this is Hasuike Ropeway Parking, about 9 A.M.

and this is Shiga Kogen Protection of Nature Center, about 10:30 A. M.

At this moment, we can see a light snow mixed with a sunny day from our window, at Hasuike.

We registered 30 cm of fresh snow this morning! It's really a good day to go out and enjoy all this snow!!!

SHIGA KOGEN - SNOW VILLAGE video

This video is from Shiga Kogen Snow Village on Sunday, about 21:30, when most of the visitors were going home.

But you can enjoy the snow village, every night, until March 14.

It's cloudy today but according to the Japanese Meteorological Agency, we would have some snow today and tomorrow... Our Snow Village will be even better!

Saturday at Ichinose

Few hours latter, at Ichinose, we found a beautiful sky to enjoy the whole day on the snow.
